John Thomas Traylor family papers, 1861-1990 (bulk 1861-1864).

The collection consists of papers of John Thomas Traylor and the Traylor family of Troup County, Georgia from 1861-1990. The bulk of the collection contains letters (1861-1864) mainly written by Traylor, while serving with the 4th Georgia Infantry Regiment in Virginia during the Civil War, to his wife, Rosa W. Traylor, or parents, George H. and Cynthia W. Traylor. The correspondence describes camp life, Traylor's health, the weather, food, and his family. Two other letters were written to Traylor and include information on crops, the farm, and the organization of new volunteer companies. The collection also contains scattered photographs, genealogical information, and other miscellaneous items.

John Thomas Traylor (1836-1864), Confederate soldier with Company D (West Point Guards) of the 4th Georgia Infantry Regiment, married Rosa Wise in 1858.
